  • Louis Vuitton’s UAE site offers personalisation on selected products.
  • Its UAE FAQ states that personalised items cannot be exchanged or returned.
  • Product eligibility, timing and the final design should be confirmed before work begins.

A luxury gift can become closely associated with one person through a small detail: initials, a chosen colour or an engraved bottle. The selling conversation then moves beyond selecting an item. It must establish exactly how the customer wants that item changed.

Louis Vuitton’s UAE site presents hot stamping for selected leather goods and travel pieces. Its UAE returns FAQ identifies personalised items, including hot-stamped goods and engraved perfume bottles, as ineligible for exchange or return. These are the brand’s published commercial terms as checked on 5 October, not a statement about every retailer’s policy.

Dunes Bureau’s view is that the quality of the decision process becomes part of the luxury experience. A beautifully executed detail can still disappoint if the spelling, placement or intended recipient was misunderstood. The store needs to make the customer’s choice explicit before the work starts.

What it means in practice

A useful appointment therefore has a natural pause. The customer can review the letters, their order, the finish and the position, alongside a clear explanation of the product’s eligibility and expected completion. That is especially helpful when the item is a gift and its eventual owner is not present to make the selection.

Personalisation also changes what flexibility means. A customer may enjoy choosing a distinctive result while having less freedom to reconsider afterwards under the seller’s terms. The service should explain that trade-off plainly. This is not an assessment of legal rights in a disputed transaction; it concerns the clarity of the purchase conversation.

For retailers, the commercial question is whether the additional attention creates a more satisfying purchase without avoidable rework. Useful internal measures could include design-confirmation errors, on-time completion and how often a request needs clarification. The cited pages provide no results for these measures and do not establish an uplift in sales.

Dubai’s luxury offer includes these small, deliberate services alongside its larger retail destinations. Their value is easy to lose if they feel rushed. A personal object should begin with an unambiguous shared understanding of what will be made and when the customer expects to receive it.
